Activists and residents of Idlib: Turkey controls the region and the fate of the armed groups

The recent situation in the de-escalation zones and the advance of the Syrian government forces have angered the residents in Idlib and caused the displacement of tens of thousands of people within a few days.
North-Press conducted a survey in the region, regarding the current situation and the people’s attitude towards the recent advances by the Syrian and Russian forces in Khan Shaykhun, southern Idlib countryside, and northern Hama.
Hikmat Mousa, a citizen from Jisr al-Shughur, said that there was an old saying “I was eaten when the white bull was”, so today the forces are in Khan Shaykhun, and tomorrow they will be here.
He called on the armed opposition leaders, “Have mercy on us, we entrusted you, do not depend on the neighboring countries no matter what promises they have given, these promises are fake. Every meeting is followed by a new setback.”
Mousa appealed to the military leaders to be aware of this fierce attack on those wronged people who are suffering displacement and tragedies.
Media activist Shadi Oueina, from western Idlib, said: “The armed fighters’ fate is in the hands of the Turkish command which is controlling the area, while its agreement with Russia and Iran tightens the situation on the Syrians.
He added; “the situation is generally scary and bad, and the displaced people don’t know where to go, while the rest of whom have remained in the city are very worried”.
Naasan Hajo another resident of Jisr al-Shughur said that the recent advance by the Syrian army and the political meetings have increased the suffering of the people, in coincidence with the ongoing shelling by the Syrian government and Russia.
“The people have become homeless, the camps have completely filled, while the fate of the city is still unknown and we don’t know whether to stay or to leave,” he said.
Last week, the Syrian government forces took control over the city of Khan Shaykhun and Hama northern countryside, following a large-scale military operation by the Syrian government forces backed by Russian, Iranian and its affiliated militias.
