The Yazidi house in Al-Jazira region (a council for Yazidi affairs in north and eastern Syria) has received a young man who was earlier kidnapped by the Islamic State (ISIS), as he turned himself in to the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) some months ago.
The Yazidi House, in coordination with the SDF, was able to bring back the 19 year-old “Daoud Jardo Khalaf” from Tal Uzair in the district of Sinjar / Shengal in northwestern Iraq, as he surrendered during Al-Baghouz battles, the last stronghold of ISIS, east of the Euphrates.
After the completion of rehabilitation procedures, the young man was handed over to the Yezidi house in Al-Jazira region some days ago, in preparation for his return to his relatives, as Islamic State group has abducted all of his family members during their attacks on Sinjar, in the summer of 2014, while there is no information regarding the rest of the family, except one of his brothers who was recently brought back from Al-Hawl camp, and then returned to his hometown in Shengal.
Mahmoud Rasho, a member of the Yazidi house in Al-Jazira region, told North-Press that Daoud had tried to flee the Islamic State held areas many times, but he was always detained before he had the opportunity to escape, following the elimination of the last strongholds of Islamic State group in the town of Al-Baghouz, then he surrendered himself to SDF.
“Daoud has explained his story to the SDF after he surrendered. He explained that he was a Yazidi boy from Shingal, and that ISIS kidnapped him during the attacks on their areas. After rehabilitation and taking the necessary measures, he was handed to us some days ago, as we will try to get him to his relatives,” said Rasho, the member of the Yazidi house.
It is worth mentioning that the Islamic State (ISIS) had kidnapped about 6,417 Yezidis during the attacks on the district of Shingal, on August 3, 2014, while the fate of half of this number is still unknown. The SDF have recovered hundreds of Yazidis during the military campaigns against the terrorist group in North and Eastern Syria.
