On Sunday, the Spring Festival started its fifth season at Dreamland Park in the city of Qamishli, organized by a number of local civil society organizations and activists.
The festival is organized by Eridu Center for Civil Society and Democracy, SANAD Organization and Share (a center founded by a group of young people in the city of Al-Hasaka to achieve sustainable development).
The festival includes an exhibition of books, photography and paintings, which is displayed throughout the four days of the festival, as well as a discussion session on cultural diversity in the region, movies, musical shows, poetry and plays.
The festival started with presenting a number of artistic paintings and musicals by local groups.
Laila Khalaf, an administrative member of SANAD organization, told North-Press that the festival aimed at “coexistence and civil peace among all components in the city of Qamishli.” Noting that folkloric, lyrical, and dabke activities give the impression that the folklore of each component is close to the other”.
Yara Walika, a member of Share Center, noted that the festival highlights the various colors of the society, hoping that the festival will reveal the reality of the society and reflect the interaction within the public life of the people, clarifying that “the festival would have an impact on the society.”
While Akram Bakr, an artist, participated in the exhibition with twelve paintings using oil on cloth technology said that exhibitions break the impasse of the art scene, noting that the festival motivates the artist to present his work in a way that promote the audiences’ taste in arts, and introduce them to the importance of plastic art.
Zirin Kalash, one of the festival’s attendees said that the event is beautiful as it eases from negative energies and makes the attendees feel safe and happy through this activity.
It’s noteworthy that “Spring Festival” has been organized for five years with its various activities, and it’s well known with various cultural events that make a positive difference in the world in general and community in particular, where people from different components connect, interact and collaborate.
