Unions for seeking integration in Europe

A group of young Syrian refugees formed a union called the “union of Syrians in Europe” in order to encourage the civilized integration of refugees with host communities.
 
The Union formed on 5th of February, received formal authorization from the French government as a start, while several representatives were deployed in countries such as Germany, Belgium, Austria, Hungary, and Italy.
The membership kind of this Union is differentiate, as the affiliation is open to all Syrians, Europeans, and other nationalities, as guaranteed by the union’s internal system, for the resident and non-resident Syrian in Europe is considered a “member”, but the rights differ in terms of candidacy and election.
The director of the Syrians’ Union in Europe, Hammam Daoud, said about the objectives of the Union, summarizing key points as “The civilized integration of refugees”, and promoting cultural exchange” in addition to introduce refugees to international conventions.
In the European countries, Syrian refugees, in general, suffer from several major problems; such as the difficulty of integrating into societies, that are considered strange and new to them, because of the different cultures and education.
Concerning the Union’s objectives, regarding the civilized integration of refugees into European societies, he said, “They try to help Syrians integrate into the labor market by holding legal training workshops, to create jobs within their capabilities, as well as helping people to learn the language of the host country by opening free language learning courses.
“Among our main objectives is to familiarize the refugees with the international and European conventions of human rights and the rights and duties of refugees in the host countries, through holding workshops to rehabilitate cadres “. He added
” They also seek to organize artistic, sport, cultural and recreational activities, that will help to bring the Syrians closer to each other in Europe, taking care of young talents and develop them, and support the practical skills of Syrians”. He concluded.
