Northern Syria Administration to return Al-Hawl IDPs back to their homes in the region

Hasakah – North-Press Agency

Sheikhmous Ahmad, Head of the office of the Internally displaced people told North-Press that the northern Syria Autonomous Administration will return all of the Syrian IDPs living now in Al-Hawl camp to their residential areas in north and east of the country, except those who were detained for security reasons, or who were involved with the Islamic State group.

Mr. Ahmad added “Special committees of the Autonomous Administration and tribal leaders are working to prepare a list of IDP names from the eastern Deir ez-Zor countryside, after ascertaining the readiness of their areas for housing, where about 500 people will be able to return to their villages in the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor at a date to be determined later”.

The official of the IDP office noted that Al-Baghouz region is not ready yet to receive civilians to reside in, because of ISIS-planted mines, while the inhabitants of the areas of Markadah, Kasrat, al-Susah, and Al-Shaafah will be able to return to their homes at a date to be determined later.

Sheikhmous Ahmad concluded by saying that “After the completion of the batches of the mentioned areas, we will begin to return back the IDPs of Manbij to their areas”.

Earlier on June 3, The Autonomous Administration allowed the return of 800 women and children of ISIS families living in Al-Hawl camp back to their homes in the countryside of Al-Tabqah and Raqqa after legal guarantees by tribal leaders.

Al-Hawl camp was opened in mid-April 2016 to receive IDPs who fled the controlled territories by the Islamic State group in Syria and Iraq.
