The Autonomous Administration in North and East Syria has decided to compensate all the farmers and machinery’ owners, homes and poultry affected by the recent fires in northern Syria region.

The co-chair of the Economy and Agriculture Board at the Autonomous Administration Salman Baroudo told North-Press that the Administration directed the agricultural and security committees to document accurately the fires, pointing out that the process of counting must be one-on-one, and upon official papers signed by the affected people themselves, and by the committees of agriculture.

Mr. Baroudo said that after the completion of statistics in general, all those affected by the fires would be compensated, while indicating that the compensation will be for the losses not for the profits, by saying, “Compensation will be in accordance with our capabilities.”

Regarding the latest crops burning investigations, Baroudo said, “Most of the fires in our areas were done by pro-Syrian government arsonists, the Turkish intelligence, and ISIS,” he continued, “we have about ten detainees, and according to the investigations, they work for the Syrian regime”, adding, “those involved are trying to destabilize security and stability in our regions.”

In the same context, the losses of farmers in north and east Syria are estimated to be more than SYP 19 billion, about $33 million, as a result of the fires, according to the Economy and Agriculture authority.

The fires which erupted this season in a very large-scale in the region caused damage to more than 45,500 hectares of lands planted with wheat and barley, as well as six harvesters, two tractors, and more than 2,500 olive trees, in addition to civilian and military casualties, according to the administration’s officials.
