Arab tribal sheikh: Handing the cloak to General Mazloum Abdi means that we have handed over our affairs to him
HASAKAH, Syria (North Press) – While receiving a delegation of Arab tribal sheikhs from Syria’s Tabqa region on Monday, one of the elders gave a cloak to Syrian Democratic Forces commander-in-chief Mazloum Abdi.
The visit of Arab tribal elders with the SDF commander came at their request, to discuss the latest military, political, and economic developments in the region.
At the beginning of the meeting held on Monday in the northeastern city of Hasakah, the representative of the tribal sheikhs’ delegation in Tabqa, Hamed Abd al-Rahman al-Faraj, gave a traditional cloak to Abdi.
When Abdi asked about its source, the sheikh answered: "It is from the Kingdom,” referring to Saudi Arabia.
"The gifting of the cloak indicates that we delivered our orders to him in everything, and that we are always with him hand in hand to strengthen the spirit of brotherhood among us," Sheikh Hamid Al-Faraj said after the meeting in an interview with North Press.
"This gift that I gave to General Mazloum, I brought from Saudi Arabia specifically for him. We give the cloak to the person who will lead the march in northeastern Syria," he added.
During the meeting, which lasted over an hour, the sheikhs discussed with Abdi the living conditions of the population in light of political fluctuations, the collapse of the value of the Syrian pound, and military tensions, especially in light of the activity of Islamic State sleeper cells.
Abdi said in a special statement to North Press that the tribal elders conveyed to him a picture of the reality in the Tabqa region from the administrative, security, and economic aspects.
He stressed that they expressed their continued support of their forces, the Autonomous Administration, and the residents of the Tabqa region in the face of all challenges.
