On Monday, Syria's Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Bashar al-Jaafari, said that the Turkish regime continues to support and sponsor terrorist groups loyal to it in Syria, and indicated that “any presence of foreign forces in Syria without the approval of the government is an occupation," according to the Syrian government's official news agency SANA.

Al-Jaafari spoke during a security council video session on the situation in Syria, in which he said, "Turkey violates its commitments to the Adana Agreement, the Sochi and Astana Understandings, and Security Council resolutions, particularly those on counterterrorism," noting that Turkish-backed terrorist groups have taken advantage of the world's preoccupation with confronting coronavirus to reorganize their forces and fortify themselves in preparation for further violations.

Al-Jaafari noted that Turkish forces cut off the water from the Alouk Water Station in the countryside of Serekaniye, saying, "The Turkish occupation forces and its terrorist groups that control the Alouk Water Station cut the water and deprived the citizens of the city of Hasakah and its surroundings, whose citizens number more than one million, of drinking water in a war crime against humanity.”

Al-Jaafari expressed his shame over the stance of Western countries and the United Nations’ specialized organizations for not condemning the practices of the Turkish government.

Al-Jaafari added, "The Turkish-backed Turkistan Party terrorists destroyed the tower of the Zeyzoun Thermal Power Station in Idlib countryside after they had looted the station's equipment in cooperation with Turkish technicians, and transported it into Turkish territory through crossings promoted by some at the United Nations as ‘humanitarian.’"
