Kurdish National Alliance in Syria meets with French Foreign Ministry delegation

A delegation from the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs met with the Kurdish National Alliance in Syria (HNKS) yesterday to seek the views of its affiliated parties on a number of political issues in the region, as well as on the “Kurdish Stance” initiative launched by Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) commander Mazloum Abdi last year.

 

A delegation from the French Foreign Ministry has been visiting the north and east of Syria for several days, and the delegation met with the parties of the HNKS, which includes five parties working with the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria.

 

Hussein Badr, a member of the political committee of the Kurdish Democratic Unity Party in Syria (one of the HNKS’s constituent parties), told North-Press that the French delegation expressed its solidarity with the SDF commander’s initiative to unify the positions of Kurdish political parties in Syria and reach an agreement between them.

 

Badr added that the delegation listened to HNKS’s political vision to resolve the crisis in Syria in general and the Kurdish issue in particular, and stated that the French to communicate this vision to officials in Paris.

 

The leader of the Unity Party noted that in the meeting with the French delegation, they discussed the conditions of the regions "occupied by Turkey and their affiliated armed opposition groups, and the violations committed by them, especially in Afrin, Sere-Kaniye (Ras al-Ain) and Tel Abyad."

 

According to informed sources, the French delegation will continue to hold meetings with Kurdish political parties and blocs in the region. Sources from within the Democratic Union Party (PYD) and the Kurdish National Council (ENKS) denied holding any meetings with the visiting French delegation so far.
