The United States of America and some European countries have stopped supporting groups belonging to the National Army, and also threatened to impose sanctions on the National Coalition because of its support for the Turkish operation and its affiliates on northern Syria.
21 European countries, in addition to the United States adopted a unified stance to stop all kinds of support for the National Army groups at all levels, whether political, medical or educational.
As the reason for stopping the support is the statement of the Coalition in favor of the Turkish operation, which Washington considered as, "it agrees on the war against the US".
Special sources of pro-Syrian opposition sites mentioned that the US envoy to Syria, James Jeffrey said in his threats to the Coalition that, he will end the political process and the Americans won't make the Constitutional Committee succeed, while he asked them to withdraw the statement supporting the military operation.
Germany also withdrew a grant to the Coalition, which covers their expenses of meetings and travel in the south, followed by the suspension of the support for the promised interim government with the start of its formation, according to those sites.
The European countries also reiterated the clause of classifying some groups of the National Army which participated in the operation, on charges of committing violations in areas witnessed clashes in northeastern Syria.
The European countries closed off support to the opposition months ago, according to reports from within the opposition confirming the dependence of most of the health and education sectors in Idlib province to the Salvation Government which belongs to Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS), which is classified on the lists of "terrorism".
The sources stressed that during the last period, the Coalition sought to reopen channels of dialogue with European countries through a meeting in the Turkish capital Ankara, and another meeting with the US envoy to Syria James Jeffrey in Istanbul.
