Some Syrian military and human rights experts confirmed to North Press that Turkey aims from the military operation against the northern and eastern areas of Syria to establish a Turkmen Brotherhood belt, change the geography of the region, fight the Syrian Kurds and plunder the wealth of the Syrian island.
Mohammed Kamal Jaffa a specialist in military affairs told North-Press that Turkey aims to establish a Turkmen Brotherhood belt and settle about 895 thousand Turkmen Syrians.
Jaffa pointed out that Erdogan said in one of his speeches that there are about 895 thousand Turkmen Syrians need to shelter, this letter addressed the Turkish internal opinion after he lost the municipalities in large cities, in an attempt to stir the national sense by establishing this belt.
Kamal Jaffa said that the allies of Syria, Russia and Iran understand the Turkish concern about its national security, but they will not accept the establishment of the Turkish belt, noting that the Turkish ambitions did not and will not stop in Syria, where it has always tried to steal factories, economic facilities and transmission power lines.
The retired Major General Haitham Khalil a military expert told North-Press that Erdogan is claiming that his country is in danger, pointing out that this is not really true since Erdogan failed to establish his Ottoman empires inside the Syrian territories.
Major General Khalil said that Erdogan’s failure to establish his Ottoman empires was reflected internally, as there were divisions within Turkey such as Davutoglu’s defection from his party and the establishment of another party against Erdogan, pointing out that in this way Erdogan imposes his tyrannical method that Turkey does not exist without him.
According to Khalil, the Turkish invasion of northern and eastern areas of Syria greatly affects the lives of civilians, where the bordering towns are heavy populated, adding: “The Turkish forces have entered the Syrian territories, abandoned the original inhabitants of the villages, turn these areas into a military zone and put their mechanisms in the gardens of those areas, which caused massacres of civilians.
Khalil pointed out that Erdogan had confirmed in Astana meetings before the guarantor state that he wouldn’t change the geography of Syria and its people and he would preserve the territorial integrity of Syria, but everything Erdogan does in this period is completely contrary to his previous statements.
Issam al-Shihabi assistant professor at the Faculty of Law in Aleppo and the deputy dean in the administrative affairs said that the Turkish ambitions to enter the Syrian territories aren’t new, as it dates back to 100 years when the treaty of Lausanne was concluded in 1923 the two countries were demarcated, noting that the agreement would be reconsidered in 2023.
Al-Shihabi pointed out that Turkey violated Adana agreement, which was agreed upon between Syria and Turkey in 1998 by opening the borders and allowing the entry of the terrorist groups and weapons into the Syrian territories.
Al-Shihabi stressed that Turkey is trying to get rid of the terrorists in Idlib and its affiliated armed groups by launching a military operation against the north of Syria, under the pretext of the Turkish national security, noting that he is trying to escape from the Turkish interior through distracting them by the military operation against northern Syria.
Al-Shihabi stressed that Turkey is not seeking to penetrate into the north of Syria to establish a safe zone and bring back the refugees, but it aims to plunder the Syrian wealth in the north of Syria from gas, oil and strategic crops of wheat, cotton and others, in addition to impose a fait accompli in order to redraw the borders in 2023.
