Moscow rejects the Turkish operation east of the Euphrates – Russian expert

North-Press Agency
A Russian military and strategic expert has said that Moscow rejects a Turkish military operation in the east of the Euphrates, as the Kremlin has warned Turkey to preserve Syrian territorial integrity.
The Russian military and strategic expert Sergey Vorobiov told North-Press that the Kremlin’s statement is as a warning to Turkey and not an approve of the military operation planned by Turkey in east of the Euphrates. However, Ankara was not affected by the warning, according to the expert’s point of view.
Vorobiov believes that if Turkey launches any military operation in northeastern Syria, there will be a Russian and American response as well.
He pointed out that the United States in the recent past had retreated on the decision of withdrawing from Syria, and had warned Turkey of any unilateral military operation, pointing out that the Russian response is different from the US.
Vorobiov said that the Russian response would be diplomatic and political, unlikely to be military.
Moreover, the expert explained that “a diplomatic and political”, means that Moscow will suspend military and commercial sales of Turkey, most importantly (S-400), and stop the training of Turkish cadres on programming the system.
Vorobiov noted that the Russian move would be only tactical, away from political meanings, hinting at an agreement between Russia and the United States to switch roles in Syria.
Russian military and strategic expert Sergey Vorobiov concluded his talk to North-Press by noting that if Turkey carries out its military operation east of the Euphrates, it means that it has hit Astana operation on one hand and a peaceful settlement in Syria on the other. As a result, it will greatly affect the Constitutional Committee because it is an unjustified escalation.
