Pentagon spokesman Sean Robertson has told North-Press in an exclusive statement that the United States has adhered to the “security mechanism” agreement, and continues to pay attention to combating Islamic State’s sleeper cells, which Washington still sees as a great threat to the region.

Robertson added that the U.S. Secretary of Defense Mark Esper has addressed his Turkish counterpart, on Saturday evening, regarding the firm U.S. position on the need for joint cooperation to establish the “security mechanism” on the ground, as it is the best way for the region, saying that we have a joint on-ground patrol which is being conducted now (during stating to North-Press), this is what we are currently focusing on.

“We are clear and consistent in our position, that defeating ISIS doesn’t mean neutralizing its threats and the plan of the security mechanism will be implemented in a specific, coordinated and collaborative manner,” Robertson added.
