Israel said the drone that was shot down by the Syrian army on Saturday in Jabal al-Sheikh, in al-Qunaitra governorate is not Israeli; it is likely to be for the Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.

On Saturday evening, the spokesman of the Israeli Defence Forces (IDF) Avichay Adraee on his official account on Twitter said that the drone, which the Syrian army claimed to have shot down in the area of Jabal al-Sheikh, which suddenly appeared in the area, didn’t belong to the IDF”.

Adraee continued that Qasem Soleimani’s members of al-Quds Force, including some Lebanese tried to carry out operations of sabotage drones about a month ago, however they did not succeed in that”.

“What is certain, this is not an IDF drone,” he said.

“Is there any talks of additional Iranian explosives operating in an uncoordinated manner in the Syrian part of Golan?” Adraee wondered.

Syrian security sources said that the concerned authorities managed to shoot down a drone flying over the town of Arna in the foothills of Jabal Al-Sheikh in northern al-Qunaitra countryside, without specifying its source.

When dismantling the downed drone, it was found to be equipped with cluster bombs, as well as a high explosive siphon to prevent its dismantling and reveal its secrets.

Last Thursday evening, Damascus said that the Syrian Air Forces dropped a drone flying over the town of Aqraba in southwestern Damascus.

Over the past two years, Syria has been hit by a large number of strikes by Israel, saying it targets Iranian forces and its affiliated groups, or in response to the aggressive operations by the Syrian government forces.
