Group of YPG withdraws from Ras al-Ain countryside in an implementation of security mechanism

The U.S. forces and Sere-Kaniye Military Council (Ras al-Ain) have conducted a joint patrol in the western countryside of Sere-Kaniye, completing the first phase of the implementation of the price security mechanism.
The joint patrol comes within the framework of the exerted efforts for implementing the security mechanism, which was agreed between the United States and Turkey in coordination with the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF).
The patrol began from the U.S. Forces point in the village of Tal Arqam, west of Sere-Kaniye, where it included three U.S. armored vehicles and four others of Sere-Kaniye Military Council.
The patrol filled the trenches at the borders strip with Turkey in the villages of Safar, Aziziyah and Mukhtaleh, west of Ras al-Ain.
North-Press reporter indicated that four joint helicopters of the U.S. and Turkish forces were following the process of backfilling the trenches in those villages, in coordination with the local military council, according to a military source.
After the defensive trenches were fully backfilled, People’s Protection Units (YPG) with their heavy weapons had withdrawn from the village of Mukhtaleh west of Ras al-Ain.
The United States, Turkey and the SDF have agreed to implement the security mechanism in Sere-Kaniye (Ras al-Ain) and Gire Spi (Tal Abyad).
The agreement includes the withdrawal of YPG and SDF forces from the border areas with their heavy weapons, in order to be replaced by the local military councils to manage the security vacuum.
