The U.S. forces in coordination with Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) are conducting today a joint patrol with Ras al-Ain Military Council on the border strip southwest of the city of Ras al-Ain.
The patrol was launched from the village of Safar, southwest of Ras al-Ain to complete the first phase of the implementation of the “security mechanism” in filling the trenches on the border areas with Turkey.
The United States, Turkey and the SDF have agreed to implement a “security mechanism” in the extended area from Ras al-Ain to Tal Abyad (Gre Spi), the agreement included the withdrawal of People’s Protection Units (YPG) and SDF from the border areas with Turkey, in order to be replaced by local military councils to fill the security vacuum in the designated area in northern Syria.
