PKK says negotiations should begin between the Autonomous Administration and the Syrian government

Kurdistan Worker’s Party (PKK) has stated that its time for negotiations to begin between Syrian government and the Autonomous Administration in North and East of Syria according to a specific program. 

Besê Hozat, a senior PKK official said in an interview with Sterk TV, which dealt with the political situation in Syria in general, and the region of north and east of Syria in particular. 

“Syrian government has to deal with the issue realistically and logically, and to discuss with the Autonomous Administration in order to resolve the issues”, Hozat said. 

Hozat noted, “The Syrian government is seeking to weaken the Autonomous Administration and to annex it to the areas of its control. This behavior is completely out of logic”, stating that the issue “must be resolved with Damascus, the areas of north and east of Syria are Syrian territories and within the Syrian borders”, pointing out that the start of the negotiations with Damascus is a “positive” step. 

Hozat also called on the Syrian government to “recognize the existing entity”, referring to the Autonomous Administration in north and east of Syria, considering “it strengthens the unity of Syria, and blocks its division”. 

While the head of the Executive Council of the Syrian Democratic Council, Elham Ahmed said in a speech at the Euphrates Tribes Forum which was held on September 1 in the countryside of Gire Spi (Tal Abyad) that “There are no signs of an agreement with the Syrian government”. 

A series of meetings were held in earlier periods between the officials of the Autonomous Administration and the Syrian government, but didn’t yield to positive results between the two sides.
