The US forces in coordination with Sare Kaniya Military Council started patrolling today on the Syrian borders with Turkey.

The patrols, which consisted of three US vehicles, and six SDF ones were run from the US point of Tal Aqram west of Sare Kaniya/Ras al-Ain crossing the town of Mabrouka to the city of Gire Spi/Tal Abyad.

For their part, the SDF started withdrawing its heavy weapons from the border areas between the city of Ras al-Ain in the northern countryside of Hasakah and the city of Tal Abyad, according to the sources.

The sources added to North Press that the running of the US patrols will be intensified in the coming days in implementation of the Pentagon announcement about carrying out  the plan of the safe zone on several stages.

The patrols aim at supervising the area covered by the safe zone plan before the beginning of its stages, noting that the US control points have already been existed on the border line with Turkey, and they patrol periodically.

It is worth mentioning that on August 7, the US and Turkey agreed on establishing a joint operations room to supervise the establishment of the safe zone in the border area between Turkey and north and east of Syria.

While the US special envoy to Syria, James Jeffrey had previously stated about the need for the supervision of local forces on the safe zone in addition to the establishment of Turkish control points.

The Safe Zone plan aims to secure north and east of Syria from Turkish threats and to dissipate Turkey’s concerns about its borders security.
