Amuda – North-Press Agency

Turkish writer and journalist Fehim Taştekin said that the ideological structure of the Islamic State (ISIS) still exists, and the group still has a wide ideological and social floor.

Taştekin’s talk with North-Press came on the sidelines of his participation in the international forum on ISIS, on its second day, which is held in Syria’s northern city of Amuda.

“ISIS is the product of the comprehensive attack on the region, centered in a specific area,” Taştekin said, adding that despite the end of its geographical control, “it has yet to end.”

Furthermore, the Turkish writer pointed out that the ideological construct of ISIS is still standing, stemming from an ideological and social ground, as it is still able to “enter the lives of people, and into their minds and thoughts as well”.

Concerning the topics of the second day of the forum, Taştekin said: “I don’t know if the session had met a full-fledged danger issue of ISIS, but from now on this matter must be taken seriously into account and not to be underestimated.” Stressing on the need to focus on the intellectual aspect through which the Islamic State spreads ideas of terrorism and extremism inside the communities.

The events of the International Forum on ISIS, organized by Rojava Center for Strategic Studies (NRLS), which started on Saturday, July 6, will continue until Monday, July 8.
