The Syrian Democratic Council holds meetings with the French Foreign Ministry and European diplomatic delegations

The Syrian Democratic Council held a diplomatic meeting in Paris on Friday with the French Foreign Ministry to discuss the latest developments in north-eastern Syria after the territorial defeat of the Islamic State.

Hassan Muhammad-Ali, the presidency member in Syrian Democratic Council told North-Press that the meeting focused on the importance of enhancing the development of the administration’s performance in north and east Syria, in order to be able to face the future challenges in terms of security, service, management, and to enable the participation of all parties in the process of construction and development after defeating ISIS, to promote and foster coexistence and civil peace.

“The French side looks forward to resolving the Syrian crisis politically through joint international will, as well as discussing proposed solutions to improve the administrative and service level in northeastern Syria through the participation of all local parties in order to dry up all the sources of terrorism and contribute to the process of stability and security in post-ISIS stage,” Muhammad-Ali added.

He clarified that the meeting discussed “The French role in combating terrorism in north and eastern Syria, and the importance of continuing this support in the coming stage”, by saying “France intends to continue its positive role in the post-ISIS phase in north and eastern Syria, and the importance of improving the administrative and political level, to make sure the non-return of terrorism”.

Other meetings
In a related context, the official of the Syrian Democratic Council had stated that they’ve held a special meeting in Paris with a number of diplomats representing the countries of Germany, France, the United Kingdom, and Switzerland to discuss the efforts of the local administration in north and eastern Syria to meet the existing security and economic challenges, and the role of these countries in supporting the process of stability in the region.

Muhammad-Ali added that the focus of the discussions was on the role of Syria’s North and East Administration to meet the existing challenges, and how to find practical solutions in term of an economic level to improve the living conditions of the local population, “These Western countries seek to provide a common ground to meet the challenges, such as the trial of ISIS militants in north-eastern Syria, and to provide concrete solutions to develop the administrative and service aspects to prevent the return of terrorism, while seeking to deliver outputs to resolve the Syrian crisis through diplomatic and peaceful solutions in accordance with the international legitimacy resolutions”.

Earlier last week, Hassan Muhammad Ali had met with the UN special envoy for Syria Geir Pederson in Oslo to talk about the participation of the Syrian Democratic Council in the international negotiations on the Syrian crisis, he also held a series of other meetings with some officials of the European countries.
