Representatives of the Syrian Democratic forces SDF have met on Thursday a delegation from Italy in the city of Kobani to discuss further cooperation in the fight terrorism and to restore security and stability in the region.
According to North-Press correspondent, the Italian delegation included representatives of the counter-terrorism and investigations and a doctor in the Italian military police along with representatives of the military intelligence of the SDF, and the coordination and military operations center with the Global Coalition, as well as to representatives from the Coalition specialists in transferring “Islamic State” detainees from north and eastern Syria to other countries.
During the one-day visit, the parties discussed their commitment to continue fighting terrorism in all forms and situations, restoring security and stability to the region, and taking historical responsibility toward the people of the region, who “offered all that they possess to fight terrorism instead of the world.” North-Press correspondent quoted leaders in the SDF.
Furthermore, the delegation commended efforts and the exceptional role played by Women’s Protection Units female-fighters (YPJ), and expressed “appreciation and admiration for the sacrifices made to eliminate international terrorism, ISIS.”
North-Press correspondent confirmed that the meeting resulted in signing a document of understanding between the two parties, representatives of the Syrian Democratic forces and the Italian delegation, followed by the transfer of the Italy-born ISIS detainee “Abu Hurayra” also known as “Abu Abdullah al-Itali”, to conduct preliminary investigations with him.
At the end of the meeting, the Italian side pledged to continue contacts with the SDF and the diplomatic parties to contribute to the files of fighting terrorism and joined cooperation in the future.
The Italian delegation is expected to hold a press conference in Italy regarding their visit to northeast Syria and their meeting with the representatives of the Syrian Democratic forces.
It’s noteworthy that the areas of Autonomous Administration of northeastern Syria have recently witnessed visits of Arab and European delegations of politicians and military figures, in a move aimed to coordinate with the authorities in north and east Syria region.
