Coalition military official: Russia wants to implement the Ghouta and Homs scenario in Idlib
A military official in the Syrian National Coalition said that Russia is trying to implement the Ghouta and Homs scenario in Idlib by communicating with local figures, while Russian and Syrian government airplanes bomb civilian settlements and medical centers in the area.
“The bloody bombardment of the Assad regime and the Russia, which targets civilians in the north of Hama and south of Idlib, resulted in the destruction that has become on top of the situation, as well as killing and displacement,” colonel Fateh Hassoun, the military relations officer of the Syrian National Coalition, said to the North Press agency.
Russia and the Syrian Government are waging the heaviest attack on towns in the north of Hama and south of Idlib inside a “buffer zone” since it was agreed on in September between Russia and Turkey under an agreement averted launching attacks on the last major stronghold of the Syrian opposition.
“Despite the use of excessive violence by Assad’s and Russian forces towards civilian settlements and medical centers, yet, they are simultaneously seeking contacts with local figures to reach out for reconciliations, the case as in Al-Ghota, Homs and the south of Syria” said the Syrian Coalition military official Fateh Hassoun in Ghouta.”
“Russia’s inability to pass its vision about the formation of the Constitutional Committee in the last Astana conference played a major role in the escalation of areas in Idlib and north of Hama,” he said.
The Syrian oppositionist said Russia wants to put pressure on opposition factions and their Turkish guarantor to implement the “Sochi” agreement on Idlib, which stipulate the establishment of a buffer zone between opposition factions and The Government forces, with Russian-Turkish monitoring patrols.
“Russia is using all means to put pressure on the opposition, and it is indifferent to the understandings with Turkey on ceasefire agreement. “ He said.
Furthermore, he said that the international community must have found a way to stop the Russian criminality.
“The situation will become catastrophic at the global level because new cross-border refugee flows towards the European Union will soon be formed,” he said.”
“The Syrian forces have demonstrated their inability to advance overland towards the south of Idlib, despite intensive air coverage by Russia, as the forces trying to advance are of the Fifth Corps, which relies on the elements of reconciliation that are forced into these battles, and some military battalions from outside the Corp, that know the seriousness of the battle and the difficulty of the advancement and stability in this area, “said Fateh Hassoun.
