The Syrian Democratic forces reveal indirect talks with Turkey
The Commander-in-Chief of the Syrian Democratic forces Mazloum Kobani; speaking at the opening of the “Forum of Syrian clans” held, on Friday, in the town of Ain Issa, north of Raqqa, said that they have indirect talks with Turkey through mediators and they are ready to understand the Turkish views.
The Syrian Democratic Council (the political cover of SDF) sponsors the “Forum of the Syrian clans”, which is held in the presence of about 5,000 representatives from /67/ Syrian clans, which is the largest of its kind in Syria.
The commander-in-chief of the Syrian Democratic forces, Mazloum Kobani, stated that they were holding indirect talks with the Turkish side and that they were ready to bring the views closer, in case of Turkey’s acceptance of two main terms, which were: the exit of Turkey from Afrin, and the stop of the threats towards the east of the Euphrates. The two-term was announced on /the 9th of April/ during the ceremony held up on the defeat of the Islamic State in Syria.
Clans delegations from the Turkish-controlled areas in the northern Aleppo countryside attended the forum, as reported by North Press reporter from the site of the Clan forum.
Moreover, Kobani noted in his speech that “the presence of the international coalition forces in our regions beside the presence of Russian troops in other regions have played a role in eradicating terrorism.”
The US-based Al-Monitor website reported that the US envoy to Syria James Jeffrey met with Kobani, two weeks ago in north of Syria, and proposed giving permission to a few Turkish soldiers to enter the east of the Euphrates area, to monitor the planned safe Zone in the north of Syria.
According to the report, Kobani rejected Jeffrey’s proposal and vowed to study the issue once the Turkish army withdraw from the Syrian Afrin, which was dominated by Turkey and Syrian armed groups, in March 2018.
