Al-Tahrir Front to North Press: We do not accept Russian and Iranian patrols in Idlib

The official spokesman of the National Front for Liberation in the city of Idlib, Naji Mustafa told “North Press” that they reject any presence of Russian and Iranian forces in their areas, even in the form of patrols, stressing that they only agree on the Turkish presence.

The Syrian government troops, backed by the Russian army, resumed shelling of Idlib and northern countryside of Hama areas, after an uneasy calm prevailed several months following the tripartite agreement in Astana.

In his brief speech, Mustafa accused the Syrian government forces and the Russian army of attempting to breach the agreement, through heavy shelling targeting residential areas in the southern countryside of Idlib and northern countryside of Hama.

The shelling resulted in many civilian casualties, where a whole family was killed as a result of high-impact rockets on the outskirts of Kansafra village in Jabal al-Zawia in Idlib countryside.

A woman and a girl were also injured in the village of Abelin, south of Ariha city in Idlib.
These areas witnessed mass exodus amid fears of shelling expansion.

The official spokesman of the National Front for Liberation emphasized the complete rejection of the presence of Russian patrols, of which he described as “occupation”, saying: “We do not accept any presence of the Russian and Iranian occupation in our regions and we only agree on the presence of the Turks.”

The forces of the National Front for Liberation had responded to the sources of fire that targeted the area last week, by bombing the Syrian government control areas, which Mustafa has confirmed in his statement, adding that they destroyed sites of the Russian army and killed a number of them as well as soldiers of the government forces.

Mustafa said that their forces are put on a standby, in case of any ground military attacks, as well as the distribution of their elements along the lines between them and the Syrian government, threatening the government and Russia that the response will be “very strong”, confirming the presence of a high coordination between the military factions and the Turkish government, to document violations on recent developments in the region.

The National Front for Liberation was formed in the city of Idlib, in May  2018, and it consists of 11 factions, of which the most prominent are the First Coastal Division and Idlib Free Army.
