Syrian Airlines resumes Moscow flights after 1.5-year suspension
QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – A Syrian Airlines passenger plane arrived in Moscow from Damascus on Sunday, marking the resumption of direct passenger flights between the Syrian and Russian capitals after more than 1.5 years.
The aircraft landed at 6:44 a.m. local time at Moscow’s Sheremetyevo International Airport, according to the airport’s information system.
The return flight to Damascus was operated later the same day.
Flights between Damascus and Moscow were suspended in December 2024 amid political developments in Syria.
The route is expected to operate once a week on Sundays, restoring a regular air connection between the two capitals.
The resumption comes as Syria works to restore international air links following years of disruptions and expand connections with regional and European destinations.
