Syria takes over Russian-operated sites at Tartus port
QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – Syria’s General Authority for Border Crossings and Customs announced on Sunday that it has taken over the commercial sites previously operated by Russia at Tartus port.
Hours earlier, Omar al-Hosari, head of Syria’s General Authority of Civil Aviation, announced that the authority has taken over Latakia International Airport.
Earlier on Sunday, the Media and Communications Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that after a year and a half of negotiations and intensive talks led by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, “the fate of the two Russian bases in Hmeimim and Tartus has finally been settled through reaching a memorandum of understanding outlining the next stage of relations between the two sides.”
The General Authority for Border Crossings and Customs said through its official accounts that the agreement includes Pier No. 4, as well as its warehouses and affiliated facilities.
