Syria arrests Islamic State cell in Quneitra
QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – Syria’s Internal Security Forces said on Sunday they had dismantled a nine-member cell affiliated with the Islamic State (ISIS) in Khan Arnabeh, Quneitra governorate, southern Syria.
In a post, the Internal Security Forces said they had, in cooperation with the General Intelligence Service, dismantled an ISIS-affiliated cell in Khan Arnabeh comprising nine people.
The forces said they had arrested the cell’s leader, Musab Khalil al-Sheikh, known as “al-Sini,” who had been active within the group in Damascus and its countryside, the Badia, and villages in Horan.
Preliminary investigations showed that the cell had carried out tasks including collecting weapons and transporting explosive devices and their components, the forces said.
The cell members were referred to the relevant authorities to complete investigations and take legal action, according to the statement.
