Syria continues investigation into Jaramana bus bombing
QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – Syria’s Interior Ministry said on Friday that security and investigative operations are continuing following a bomb attack that targeted a passenger bus in the city of Jaramana, southeast of Damascus, on Thursday evening, injuring 14 civilians.
In a statement published on its Telegram channel, the ministry said Internal Security Forces imposed a security cordon around the blast site immediately after the explosion and began collecting evidence and investigating the incident to determine the circumstances of the attack and identify those responsible before referring them to the judiciary.
The ministry added that the attack coincided with statements by religious leaders and community elders in Jaramana reaffirming their support for the Syrian state and the country’s unity. They also urged residents to remain vigilant and avoid attempts to incite sectarian strife or undermine civil peace.
Damascus Countryside Health Director Dr. Tawfiq Hisaba said the final toll from the explosion stood at 14 injured civilians. Seven of the wounded were transferred to Damascus Hospital, including three in critical condition requiring surgery, while no fatalities were recorded.
Separately, Bahrain’s Foreign Ministry strongly condemned the bombing that targeted the passenger bus in Jaramana, expressing the kingdom’s full solidarity with Syria and support for measures taken by the Syrian government to strengthen security and stability.
In a statement, the Bahraini Foreign Ministry reaffirmed the kingdom’s rejection of all terrorist and violent acts targeting civilians or threatening the security of states. It also reiterated its support for Syria’s unity, sovereignty, and territorial integrity, and wished those injured a speedy recovery.
