Bab al-Hawa records nearly 500,000 crossings in six months
QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – Nearly 500,000 travelers crossed the Bab al-Hawa border crossing in both directions during the first half of 2026, including more than 57,000 Syrians who voluntarily returned to the country, Syria’s General Authority for Border Crossings and Customs said on Wednesday.
According to the authority, a total of around 500,000 travelers used the crossing on the Syrian-Turkish border between January and June 2026. It added that the crossing received more than 57,000 Syrian nationals who voluntarily returned to Syria during the same period.
On Monday, the authority announced that 1.04 million travelers had crossed the Bab al-Salama border crossing with Turkey in both directions since the beginning of the year.
The authority said the Bab al-Hawa administration continues to strengthen its operational readiness by increasing staffing, improving technical and service capabilities, and organizing the movement of travelers and vehicles. It said these measures aim to reduce waiting times, speed up procedures, and respond to the continued increase in cross-border traffic.
