Syrian Petroleum Company takes over all oil fields in Jazira
QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – The Syrian Petroleum Company announced on Tuesday that it has assumed control of all oil fields in the Jazira region, marking the start of a new phase to rehabilitate Syria’s oil sector.
Speaking at a joint press conference with HKN Energy CEO Mark Rollins in the city of Rumailan, Syrian Petroleum Company Director Youssef Qablawi said maintenance and rehabilitation work on the oil fields would begin immediately.
Qablawi said the rehabilitation process is expected to take between six months and one year, with the aim of improving infrastructure efficiency and increasing production capacity.
He added that the fields are currently producing more than 100,000 barrels of oil per day, with output expected to exceed 250,000 barrels per day by 2027 through the rehabilitation of existing wells, upgrades to oil sector infrastructure, and the exploration of new wells.
Qablawi also said the agreement includes salary increases for employees working in the oil fields to support the workforce and improve working conditions alongside the rehabilitation projects. He added that the plan also includes the provision of enhanced environmental services for residents of the governorate.
