Hasakah mine action office to integrate into Syrian Ministry
HASAKAH, Syria (North Press) – Hasakah’s National Mine Action Office will be integrated into Syria’s Ministry of Emergency and Disaster Management under the January 29 agreement between the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) and the Syrian transitional government, a local official said on Monday.
Agid Najjar, head of the Assessment and Follow-up Department at the National Mine Action Office, told North Press that the Hasakah office will become part of the National Mine Action Office within the ministry as part of the restructuring of institutions under the agreement.
Najjar said consultations and administrative procedures related to the integration with the ministry’s headquarters in Damascus are still underway.
He added that the office’s Assessment and Follow-up Department continues mine and unexploded ordnance clearance operations around Sere Kaniye (Ras al-Ain) countryside in northeastern Syria and on roads leading to the city as preparations continue for the return of displaced residents to their homes.
