Syrian security forces arrest three suspects over filmed mass killing
QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – Syria’s Internal Security Forces announced on Saturday the arrest of three people accused of involvement in a mass execution of unarmed civilians during the rule of the former Syrian government.
The force identified the suspects as brothers Akram Shamma, Farzat Shamma, and Ghiyath Shamma.
According to the Internal Security Forces, investigations supported by evidence, witness accounts, and video footage documenting the crime showed that the suspects detained 15 civilians and executed them during the Syrian conflict.
The statement added that the detainees confessed to their direct involvement in the video, which showed the victims with their hands tied and eyes blindfolded after they had been forced at gunpoint to praise former Syrian President Bashar al-Assad before the suspects opened fire on them, killing them all.
The Internal Security Forces said the necessary legal procedures had been completed and the suspects would be referred to the competent judicial authorities for further legal action.
