Israeli forces enter villages in Syria’s Daraa, set up checkpoint
DARAA, Syria (North Press) – Israeli forces on Sunday entered the villages of Maariyah and al-Aridah in the Yarmouk Basin area of western Daraa, southern Syria, where they established a military checkpoint, with no reports of their withdrawal as of publication.
The incursion followed another Israeli military deployment in the Wadi al-Raqad area of the Yarmouk Basin two days earlier. Israeli forces later withdrew after what local sources described as a temporary deployment.
Local media reported that the Israeli force, consisting of three military vehicles and a bulldozer, entered the area, cleared a road and set up a checkpoint inside al-Aridah village.
Israeli military activity has increased in recent months across the countryside of Daraa and Quneitra governorates, raising concerns among local residents about the scope of the incursions and their potential impact on the area.
