Israeli forces briefly enter Yarmouk Basin in western Daraa
QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – Israeli forces briefly entered on Friday the al-Raqad Valley in the Yarmouk Basin of western Daraa countryside before withdrawing after establishing a temporary military presence in the area, according to Syria’s state news agency SANA.
SANA reported that an Israeli force consisting of four military vehicles entered through the Tal Abu al-Ghaithar gate toward al-Raqad Valley. The force remained for several minutes on the valley bridge before advancing toward the outskirts of Jamla town near the Saysoun–Jamla road.
The agency said the Israeli forces set up a temporary checkpoint, stopped several civilians, imposed restrictions on farmers, and suspended traffic for approximately 90 minutes before leaving the area.
The incursion came days after a child and a young man were wounded when Israeli forces opened fire on a group of civilians in Jamla town in the Yarmouk Basin.
Israel has continued carrying out military incursions and operations in southern Syria in recent months. Syrian authorities have repeatedly called for the withdrawal of Israeli forces from the areas they entered and urged adherence to the 1974 Disengagement Agreement, stressing that the measures have no legal effect under international law.
