CENTCOM says latest strikes on Iran complete
DAMASCUS, Syria (North Press) – U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) on Monday announced that it had concluded its latest round of military strikes against Iran, targeting military command centers, naval capabilities, missile launch sites, drone infrastructure, and air defense systems.
In a statement, CENTCOM said “U.S. forces struck Iranian military command centers, maritime capabilities, missile and drone launch sites, and air defense systems to degrade Iran’s ability to continue attacking commercial vessels flowing through the Strait of Hormuz.”
The command also said that since the beginning of July, U.S. forces have helped facilitate the safe passage of nearly 900 commercial vessels carrying approximately 450 million barrels of crude oil through the Strait of Hormuz.
CENTCOM stressed that U.S. forces remain on high alert and are prepared to hold Iran accountable for what it described as “unwarranted aggression” against civilian mariners seeking to navigate the strategic waterway.
The announcement came as the U.S. State Department issued a worldwide security alert for American citizens, citing escalating tensions across the Middle East.
“Due to heightened tensions in the Middle East, the security environment remains complex with the potential for unforeseen escalation,” the department said in a statement, urging Americans in the region to exercise caution and prepare for possible flight disruptions or cancellations.
Earlier Monday, U.S. President Donald Trump warned that Iran would “pay” for the deaths of several American service members during recent hostilities.
