Mazloum Abdi condemns deadly Iranian attack on Komala fighters
QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) Commander Mazloum Abdi on Saturday condemned what he described as an Iranian attack that killed nine Peshmerga fighters affiliated with the Kurdish opposition group Komala in Iraq’s Kurdistan Region.
In a statement, Abdi said he had received “with profound sorrow and grief” the news of the killing of nine Komala Peshmerga fighters in Sulaymaniyah “as a result of an attack carried out by the Iranian regime while they were performing their duty.”
Abdi also renewed his condemnation of “any attack targeting the security and stability of the Kurdistan Region.”
He extended his condolences to “the families of the martyrs, the leadership of Komala, and our Kurdish people in East Kurdistan,” adding, “We ask God to grant the martyrs His vast mercy and to bless the injured with a speedy recovery.”
Iran has repeatedly carried out cross-border strikes against Iranian Kurdish opposition groups based in Iraq’s Kurdistan Region, accusing them of conducting activities that threaten its national security.
Kurdish opposition groups have denied carrying out attacks inside Iran.
