QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – Israeli forces arrested a civilian on Friday during a military incursion into the village of Ain al-Ziwan in the southern countryside of Quneitra governorate, according to the Syrian state news agency SANA.
SANA reported that an Israeli force consisting of four military vehicles entered the village and raided a civilian house before arresting its owner. The force later withdrew from the area.
The incident came one day after another Israeli force, comprising two military vehicles, advanced into agricultural land west of the town of al-Rafid in southern Quneitra countryside. During that operation, Israeli troops temporarily detained several farmers and shepherds who were in the area before releasing them and withdrawing, according to SANA.
Israeli military incursions have been repeatedly reported in southern Syria in recent months, alongside raids, arrests, and operations targeting agricultural land. These activities have occurred amid continued violations of the 1974 Disengagement Agreement.
The Syrian government has reiterated that all measures carried out by Israeli forces inside Syrian territory are null and void and have no legal effect under international law. It also renewed its call on the international community to assume its responsibilities, halt what it described as Israeli violations, and ensure Israel’s full withdrawal from areas it has entered in southern Syria.
