Israeli forces set up checkpoint during new incursion in Quneitra

QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – Israeli forces carried out a new incursion on Monday into Sida al-Golan village in the southern countryside of Quneitra governorate, where they established a temporary checkpoint and inspected civilians, according to local media reports.

Several media outlets reported that an Israeli military patrol consisting of five vehicles entered Sida al-Golan village in southern Quneitra.

The reports said the forces set up a temporary checkpoint at the eastern entrance of the village on the road leading to Ain Dhikr village. Personnel at the checkpoint stopped passersby, checked identification documents, and conducted inspections before moving further into the village.

Video footage circulated by local sources showed Israeli forces operating the checkpoint, stopping civilians and carrying out searches. The footage also showed limited movement of residents and vehicles in the village during the operation.

The reported incursion comes amid continued tensions along the border areas of southern Syria.

On Sunday, Israeli forces reportedly fired machine guns toward agricultural plains in the Wadi al-Raqad area within the Yarmouk Basin in western Daraa countryside. No injuries among civilians or material damage were reported as a result of the incident.

Israel has conducted repeated military operations and incursions in areas of southern Syria in recent months, particularly in border regions of Quneitra and Daraa governorates.
