Barzani meets SDF commander, emphasizes Kurdish dialogue in Syria

QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – President of the Kurdistan Region of Iraq Nechirvan Barzani on Tuesday met with Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) Commander in Chief Mazloum Abdi in the regional capital, Erbil, where both sides stressed the importance of dialogue and understanding among Kurdish parties in Syria.

According to a statement issued by the Kurdistan Region Presidency, Barzani and Abdi discussed the situation in Syria and the conditions facing Kurds, while also exchanging views on regional developments and the importance of preserving stability and confronting the threat of terrorism.

The statement said the two sides emphasized the necessity of dialogue and understanding between Kurdish parties in Syria in order to address outstanding issues with the Syrian transitional government.

For his part, Mazloum Abdi expressed appreciation for the continued support provided by Nechirvan Barzani and the Kurdistan Region leadership for the rights of the Kurdish people and other communities in Syria.

The meeting also addressed a number of additional issues of mutual concern, according to the presidency statement.
