New transit shipment crosses al-Yarubiyah crossing toward Iraq
DAMASCUS, Syria (North Press) – The General Authority for Borders and Customs announced on Friday that a new transit shipment crossed through the al-Yarubiyah border crossing, coming from Turkey and heading toward Iraq.
In a statement published on its Facebook page, the authority said the shipment’s passage comes as part of “ongoing efforts to strengthen regional trade exchange and activate land transport routes,” contributing to the support of transit and shipping movement between countries in the region.
The authority added that the move also underscores the importance of the al-Yarubiyah crossing as “a vital hub in regional transit movement.”
It noted that the crossing is currently witnessing “active and increasing commercial activity,” including the transit of cargo trucks, trade exchange operations, and passenger movement.
According to the authority, the increased activity coincides with organizational and service measures aimed at facilitating entry and exit procedures and accelerating the completion of customs and logistics transactions.
The General Authority for Borders and Customs stressed that staff at the crossing continue efforts to ensure smooth movement and provide necessary facilitation for transport companies, traders, and travelers, which would positively reflect on economic activity and transportation movement through Syrian territory.
