First transit convoy crosses Syria from Turkey toward Iraq
QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – The General Authority for Land and Sea Ports on Monday said that the Tel Abyad Border Crossing witnessed the passage of the first international transit convoy arriving from Turkey and heading to Iraq via the al-Yarubiyah Border Crossing.
In a statement posted on its official social media accounts, the authority said the convoy’s crossing reflects efforts to reactivate international transit lines and restore Syria’s role as a logistical corridor linking countries in the region.
The authority added that the step would contribute to supporting regional trade movement and improving the efficiency of transport and supply chains passing through Syrian territory.
It noted that work is ongoing to facilitate transit and customs clearance procedures while raising operational and logistical readiness at border crossings to ensure smooth movement of trucks and goods.
According to the authority, these measures aim to enhance the quality of services provided to the transport and trade sectors and to strengthen Syria’s position in regional overland trade routes.
