Israeli forces reinforce positions in eastern Quneitra countryside
QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – Israeli forces deployed on Sunday military vehicles and bulldozers to Tal Ahmar al-Sharqi in the eastern countryside of Quneitra, a strategically significant hill overlooking parts of western Daraa, according to local sources.
The deployment included heavy machinery and the start of fortification works around the hilltop. Sources told North Press that Israeli forces began constructing field defenses, including earth barriers and reinforcing military positions at the summit.
Witnesses reported that an Israeli flag was raised on the top of the hill, indicating what appears to be an effort to establish a more sustained military presence in the area.
Tal Ahmar al-Sharqi is considered one of the key strategic sites in southern Syria due to its wide visual coverage over border areas, granting forces stationed there significant surveillance and operational advantage.
The Quneitra countryside has witnessed intermittent military activity recently, particularly near areas adjacent to the occupied Syrian Golan Heights, where Israel has maintained control since 1967.
