QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – Armed individuals launched an attack on Tuesday on a checkpoint belonging to the Internal Security Forces in the Tadamon neighborhood of the Syrian capital Damascus, resulting in casualties, according to multiple media outlets.
Media sources reported that the attack led to the killing of one security member and the injury of another with moderate wounds. The injured officer was transferred to a hospital to receive medical treatment.
The reports added that one member of the attacking group was also killed during the incident. Internal Security Forces managed to arrest another attacker and confiscated weapons and hand grenades that were in his possession, while other members of the group fled the scene.
Following the exchange of fire, residents in the area experienced a state of panic amid the security escalation in the neighborhood.
No further official statement was immediately issued regarding the identities of the attackers or the motive behind the assault.
