Two killed in landmine blast in Suwayda countryside
QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – Two civilians were killed on Wednesday in a landmine explosion in the western countryside of Suwayda, southern Syria, according to local sources.
The incident occurred in the town of Najran, where a landmine detonated as the victims were plowing agricultural land using a tractor northwest of the town.
Local sources told North Press that the victims were identified as Nabih Salam Nasr (38) and Osama Salman Ghiath Nasr (37), both residents of Najran.
Landmines and unexploded ordnance remain a persistent threat in several parts of Syria, particularly in rural and previously contested areas, often resulting in civilian casualties during farming or daily activities.
No official statement has been issued regarding the incident.
