Reuters reports Iran’s Defense Minister killed in joint strikes

QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – The Iranian Defense Minister and the commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) were killed in the US-Israeli strikes on Iran, Reuters reported on Saturday, citing three sources.

Reuters quoted three sources saying, “Iranian Defense Minister Amir Nasser Zadeh and IRGC commander Mohammad Bakpour were killed.”

Earlier on Saturday, Tehran had denied reports carried by Western media about the killing of several Iranian leaders in the US and Israeli strikes that targeted Iran.

Informed sources had previously said that the US-Israeli attacks on Iran resulted in the deaths of several senior IRGC commanders and prominent political officials.

Israeli Channel 12 reported that initial assessments within Israel indicate a “very great success” in the airstrikes that targeted Iran, with a focus on the elimination of high-ranking political and military leaders.
