Kurdish joint delegation to visit Damascus this month

QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – A joint Kurdish delegation formed after the “Unity of Kurdish Rank and Position” conference is expected to visit the Syrian capital Damascus later this month, a senior Kurdish political figure said on Thursday.

Suleiman Oso, a member of the Presidential Board of the Kurdish National Council (ENKS), told the Kurdish channel Rudaw that “the joint Kurdish delegation will visit Damascus during this month.”

The delegation was formed following recent Kurdish political consultations aimed at coordinating positions and enhancing dialogue among Kurdish parties in northeast Syria, a region administered by the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES) and secured by the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF).

Earlier this week, Syria’s transitional president, Ahmad al-Sharaa, received the Presidential Board of the Kurdish National Council in Damascus, following a meeting held with Foreign Minister Asaad al-Shaibani.

Oso, who is also a member of the joint Kurdish delegation, said that upon their return to Qamishli, the delegation plans to meet with SDF Commander-in-Chief General Mazloum Abdi, along with other members of the joint delegation.

He added that their recent meeting with the Syrian foreign minister addressed the issue of Sere Kaniye /Ras al-Ain and the return of displaced residents.

“We discussed the issue of Sere Kaniye and the return of the displaced, and al-Shaibani promised the return of the displaced to their homes as soon as possible,” Oso said.

The joint Kurdish delegation is expected to travel to Damascus later this month to continue discussions with Syrian officials, according to Oso.
