Unknown gunmen attack multiple SDF posts in Deir ez-Zor
DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) – Several attacks targeted late Friday the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) in different areas of the Deir ez-Zor countryside, eastern Syria, with no group claiming responsibility.
A military source from the SDF in Deir ez-Zor told North Press that unidentified gunmen opened fire with automatic weapons on two SDF military posts in the town of Abu Hamam, east of Deir ez-Zor.
The attack triggered brief clashes between the two sides, forcing the gunmen to flee. No casualties or injuries were reported.
The source added that another attack targeted an SDF military post near the banks of the Euphrates River in the town of al-Bahra, east of Deir ez-Zor.
The post was hit by an RPG round and automatic gunfire originating from areas west of the Euphrates under the control of the Syrian transitional government. The attack caused material damage only.
In a separate incident, the source said that unidentified gunmen riding a motorcycle opened fire with automatic weapons on an SDF checkpoint in the town of al-Marashidah, east of Deir ez-Zor. No casualties were reported.
