Cluster bomb remnant kills child, injures three in Idlib countryside
QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – A child was killed and three others sustained severe injuries on Thursday when a cluster bomb remnant from the war exploded in the village of Bayaiyat al-Danish, east of the town of Abu al-Zuhour in the eastern countryside of Idlib, according to the Syrian Civil Defense.
The Civil Defense said emergency teams transferred the injured children to Idlib University Hospital for treatment, noting that their conditions required immediate medical intervention.
According to the rescue agency, unexploded ordnance (UXO), including landmines and cluster bomb remnants, continues to pose a major threat to civilians across Syria, particularly children who often encounter these items while playing or working in agricultural fields. It added that the widespread contamination of farmlands and abandoned residential areas has significantly hindered the ability of displaced families to return to their homes.
