Families flee Damascus countryside amid intense Israeli overflights
DAMASCUS, Syria (North Press) – Dozens of families fled on Saturday evening the town of Beit Jinn in the western Damascus countryside after intense Israeli aircraft activity over the area and reports of Israeli military mobilization nearby.
A local source told North Press that widespread fear gripped the town after the latest overflights, prompting residents to evacuate their homes toward the surrounding farmlands and the neighboring village of Sa’sa’, in anticipation of renewed shelling, especially after recent events reignited tensions in the region.
On Nov. 28, Beit Jinn came under Israeli shelling following clashes between an Israeli military patrol that had entered the town and several residents. The incident resulted in the deaths of 13 people, including women and children, and left several Israeli soldiers wounded.
The source added that many families sought refuge with relatives in nearby villages.
