ISIS claims responsibility for multiple attacks in Deir ez-Zor
DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) – The Islamic State (ISIS) claimed on Friday responsibility for three separate attacks in Deir ez-Zor, eastern Syria, targeting positions of both the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) and forces of the Syrian transitional government.
In its weekly report, ISIS’s Amaq news agency detailed the operations. One of the attacks targeted a military personnel of the Syrian transitional government in the town of Abu Kamal, east of Deir ez-Zor.
According to the news agency, the military personnel was targeted for allegedly monitoring and spying on their movements.
Another operation was carried out against an SDF military vehicle on the al-Jafra oil field road, east of Deir ez-Zor, leaving two SDF members injured and causing damage to the vehicle.
The third attack saw ISIS militants target an oil tanker contracted with the SDF in the town of Diban, located in the eastern Deir ez-Zor countryside.
This attack is reportedly part of ISIS’s broader economic warfare against the region, particularly in areas controlled by the SDF, east of the Euphrates River.
